Conveniently positioned along U.S. Highway 169 between the Twin Cities and Mankato, Belle Plaine has grown 80% in recent years while retaining its small-town charm. Located along the Minnesota River, which flows northeast through the town, the banks of the river create a rolling landscape and valley that rise up on either side of the community.

The Belle Plaine Public School District has nearly 1500 students in grades Kindergarten through 12. There are two elementary schools, with Chatfield Elementary holding preschool and kindergarten through second grade, and Oakcrest Elementary holding third through sixth grade. Seventh through 12th grades are held in Belle Plaine Junior/Senior High School. Graduating classes from BPHS usually range from 100 to 120 students. Trinity Lutheran School is a Pre-K-8 grade school of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in Belle Plaine.

Destination 2040

Belle Plaine Comprehensive Planning

Destination Belle Plaine 2040 is the Comprehensive Plan and will guide the overall growth and redevelopment for the next twenty years. It consists of written narratives, maps, and data tables. Destination 2040’s vision is “a perpetually sustainable, complete, and livable City for all people, seasons, and generations”. Destination 2040 is based on five desired outcomes: stewardship, long-term economic prosperity, social equity, livability, and sustainability.

NextStage for Entrepreneurs provides one-on-one consulting, small group learning, and access to loan capital for businesses and entrepreneurs throughout Scott County.  This program is provided free of charge to Scott County residents and businesses, and is closely integrated with other local programs aimed at providing assistance to Scott County entrepreneurs and businesses
